Another 10 years of cooperation with DKV Debreceni Közlekedési Zrt.

Since 2009, INTER TAN-KER Zrt. and DKV Debreceni Közlekedési Zrt. have been jointly responsible for the operation of local public bus transport. As the public service contract expires this year, DKV Debreceni Közlekedési Zrt. launched a public procurement procedure in February this year to ensure the availability of buses for local public bus transport between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2031. The agreement with the winning company, INTER TAN-KER Zrt. for the purchase of new vehicles and the provision of the necessary buses was signed on 31 March at a ceremony.

Under the contract just signed, INTER TAN-KER Zrt. will put a total of 119 new buses into service, comprising 69 Mercedes-Benz Conecto solo buses and Mercedes-Benz REFORM 500 LE solo buses developed and produced in-house, as well as 50 Mercedes-Benz Conecto G articulated buses.

The replacement of the bus fleet will be carried out in a phased approach. The first new vehicles will be introduced in January 2022, after which it is planned to introduce around 10 new buses every quarter, gradually replacing the city’s old VOLVO vehicles. The entire fleet of 119 new buses should be delivered to INTER TAN-KER Zrt. by 1 October 2024. In parallel with the commissioning of the new buses, the old VOLVO buses will be gradually phased out by DKV Zrt.

The public procurement procedure includes the replacement of the bus fleet, the availability of buses for public service, the technical maintenance and servicing of the vehicles, the provision of a repair base and site, the storage of vehicles on site, the use of the fuel station and the repair of buses on the line as required.

The new buses will have low floors to meet today’s requirements, and some solo buses will have low access. All vehicles are air-conditioned and equipped with interior and exterior acoustic passenger information systems. The exterior of the new bus fleet is also in line with today’s trends, with a silver-grey colour scheme to give an elegant and uniform appearance on the roads of Debrecen.

It was at this event that Reinhardt Münster, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Hungária Kft., announced that the subsidiary of ITK Holding Zrt. had been awarded the ‘VanPartner’ certification.

Based on the certification granted by Mercedes-Benz, the group can now also build small commercial vehicles as individual bodies on Mercedes-Benz chassis. The first tangible result of this qualification is the Reform-S School minibus, which was also presented on this occasion.

The uniquely designed minibus not only brings the future of child transport, thanks to its safety and passenger protection features, but also opens a new chapter in the history of the two companies, with the potential for a highly successful partnership.
